It's all about history this time. The first silent movie to win the Oscar since the first movie that won best picture - WINGS. The first non-british or US movie to win the Oscar - France did it. The first full B&W movie to win since THE APARTMENT. The first movie about the movies to win best picture. A great hommage to Hollywood history will win. Chaplin, Fairbanks, Keaton and others after, like Wilder, will be happy. THE ARTIST is the best picture of the year and one of the best pictures to win the Oscar in 84 years. And I'm thrilled to see that the Academy will finally truly recognize the best picture of the year.
