It's easy for some to say that Plummer will receive this Oscar for his career. I prefer to think that the Academy will give it to him because he gave this year the best performance by an actor in a supporting role. Which is true. After three years of bigger than life performances by actors in supporting roles (Heath Ledger, Christopher Waltz and Christian Bale gave some of the best supporting performances ever), Academy turns to a "quiet" and moving one. Even with Max von Sidow getting... incredibly close, Plummer will take the Oscar home. For his performance.
