HERE IS THE OSCAR NOMINEES LIST!

Beverly Hills, CA – Nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced today (Tuesday, January 25) by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and 2009 Oscar® winner Mo'Nique.

Sherak and Mo'Nique, who won an Academy Award® for her supporting performance in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," announced the nominees in 10 of the 24 Award categories at a 5:38 a.m. PT live news conference attended by more than 400 international media representatives. Lists of nominations in all categories were then distributed to the media in attendance and online via the official Academy Awards website, www.oscar.com.

Academy members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film categories, nominations are selected by vote of multi-branch screening committees. All voting members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees.

Nominations ballots were mailed to the 5,755 voting members in late December and were returned directly to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the international accounting firm, for tabulation.

Official screenings of all motion pictures with one or more nominations will begin for members this weekend at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Screenings also will be held at the Academy's Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood and in London, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area.

All active and life members of the Academy are eligible to select the winners in all categories, although in five of them – Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject and Foreign Language Film – members can vote only if they have seen all of the nominated films in those categories.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

ANNE HATHAWAY WILL BE CATWOMAN

Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in The Dark Knight Rises and will star opposite Christian Bale and Tom Hardy!

The 28-year-old actress “will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” director Christopher Nolan said in a release.

“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” Christopher continued. Tom will play Bane, a villainous escaped prisoner “who became abnormally strong after being pumped full of drugs”.

The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for a July 20, 2012 release.

9 FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS CONTINUE TO OSCAR RACE

The films, listed in alphabetical order by country, are:

Algeria, “Hors la Loi” (“Outside the Law”), Rachid Bouchareb, director;
Canada, “Incendies,” Denis Villeneuve, director;
Denmark, “In a Better World,” Susanne Bier, director;

Foreign Language Film nominations for 2010 are again being determined in two phases.

The Phase I committee, consisting of several hundred Los Angeles-based members, screened the 66 eligible films between mid-October and January 13. The group’s top six choices, augmented by three additional selections voted by the Academy’s Foreign Language Film Award Executive Committee, constitute the shortlist.

The shortlist will be winnowed down to the five nominees by specially invited committees in New York and Los Angeles. They will spend Friday, January 21, through Sunday, January 23, viewing three films each day and then casting their ballots.

The 83rd Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar® presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

BAFTA NOMINEES

Javier Bardem gest a BAFTA nod, which means that he can easily be the 5th best actor nominee at the Oscars. Pete Postlethwaite scored a posthumous nod. No love for Melissa Leo. That's odd. She isn't nominated for the BAFTA. She will have her revenge at the Oscars.

FUTURE OSCAR NOMINEE COVERS DETAILS

OSCAR RED CARPET EXTENDED FROM 30 TO 90 MINUTES

Beverly Hills, CA — Charlie Haykel and Juliane Hare will executive produce the red carpet arrivals show “Oscar’s Red Carpet Live,” 83rd Academy Awards® telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today. This will be the pair’s first time producing the red carpet show.

“Oscar’s Red Carpet Live,” which has been extended from 30 to 90 minutes, will air on the ABC Television Network beginning at 4 p.m. PT/ 7 p.m. ET, immediately preceding the Oscar telecast. Cohen and Mischer also serve as executive producers for “Oscar’s Red Carpet Live.”

Haykel and Hare, who have long-standing associations with Mischer – 14 and 18 years respectively – are also serving as consulting producers for the 83rd Academy Awards telecast.

"We’re excited to be working on the pre-show, and it’s great that it's been extended to 90 minutes,” said Haykel and Hare. "In addition to having more time to talk to the biggest movie stars in the world, we'll be able to take the viewers behind the scenes before the biggest event in entertainment!"

Haykel recently produced the “62nd Primetime Emmy Awards” in association with Mischer, and the official kickoff to the Obama Inaugural, “We Are One,” for HBO. Also in collaboration with Mischer, he produced the halftime shows for Super Bowl XXXIX and XL and the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

Hare joined Don Mischer Productions in 1996. She has worked on the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics in Shanghai, on several Emmy® telecasts, and on pre-game and halftime shows for
Super Bowl XXXIX, XL and XLI. In 2009 Hare received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Series for producing PBS’s “From the Top at Carnegie Hall.”

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

WE HAD FACES THEN - WE HAVE FACES NOW!

Sunset Boulevard’s Norma Desmond famously proclaimed “We had Faces!”, but as you well know, this woman was nuts for several reasons and because we certainly have faces today too. The seriousness of the first half of award season is over and it’s a new year, so we should treat ourselves to some candy, and I’m talking about eyecandy. You know the kind of candy that is consumed with the eyes and that doesn’t settle in the abdominal area, but rather one floor below that.
Today we want to showcase actors and actresses who have not only wowed us with their work on screen, but who also have made our jaws drop and made us feel inadequate because they look so darn good. Here are the faces (you might also consider talking a cold shower before continuing).
