FIRST LOOK: DEPP AND PENELOPE IN "PIRATES 4"

Picture from People magazine.

CARLA BRUNI IS REALLY FILMING WITH WOODY ALLEN

From People: Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, whose accomplishments already include supermodel, singer-songwriter, and French First Lady, has another impressive addition to her resume: actress.

Dressed in a white blouse and jeans, Bruni-Sarkozy stepped before cameras alongside Owen Wilson in Paris Tuesday afternoon in a film directed by Woody Allen. The scenes, shot around the Pantheon in Paris's fifth arrondissement, will appear in Allen's current project, Paris In Midnight.

"Carla and Woody got along incredibly well on the set," a source tells PEOPLE. "They talked constantly and laughed quite a lot between takes. Owen as well."

The source says Bruni-Sarkozy's first day of shooting lasted nearly five hours and included many takes. "They must have shot the same set up, where she walks along holding a baguette in her hand going into a supermarket ... around 32 [times.]"

Allen proposed a small role to Bruni-Sarkozy in 2009, and then met with her and her husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, last summer at the Elysées Palace to discuss the cameo role.

Paris In Midnight is a 1920s Jazz-Age period costume piece featuring Wilson, Marion Cotillard and Adrian Brody told largely in flashbacks. Bruni-Sarkozy is playing the director of a Paris museum with Oscar winner Cotillard playing her subordinate. "Carla has a tiny role in the film," says a member of her entourage. "In any case, she won't be stealing the spotlight from the other actors."

Sources tell PEOPLE that Bruni-Sarkozy, 42, is expected to do another half-day of shooting with Cotillard before joining her husband on vacation.

In November, Bruni-Sarkozy, officially announced that she'd taken the part, but said she wasn't expecting to be perfect.

"I go into everything blindly, or I'd never do anything at all," she said during a television interview on France's Canal+. "I am not an actress at all. Maybe I'll be completely hopeless, but I can't miss an opportunity like this one in my life. When I'm a grandmother, I'd like to be able to say I made a film with Woody Allen."

"TOY STORY 3" MEETS "INCEPTION"

OSCARS: "INCEPTION" CAN SAY GOODBYE TO BEST SCORE

After THE DARK KNIGHT, it's time for INCEPTION's score to have trouble with a possible Oscar nod. INCEPTION has the best original score of the year. But I doubt the Academy would even nominate it. They probably won't consider it original score because one of the tracks has a little bit of Edith Piaf's "Non, je ne regrette rien". You know why if you see the movie. Do you agree that Academy shouldn't consider INCEPTION to have an original score because of that?

"INCEPTION" CAN LEAD OSCAR NIGHT WITH 10 NODS

I can't say which movie I loved most this year: INCEPTION or SHUTTER ISLAND. They are both Oscar-worthy. But INCEPTION have more possibilities to be an Oscar frontrunner with 10 Oscar nods. Or even more. Let's see:

1) BEST PICTURE
A sure lock for a nod. Didn't they change from 5 to 10 nominees after THE DARK KNIGHT was robbed?

2) BEST DIRECTOR
After being ignored with THE DARK KNIGHT, Christopher Nolan can be rewarded with a nod this time.

3) BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
Not only it will get the nod, INCEPTION is probably the frontrunner here.

4) BEST EDITING
Can we say frontrunner here too?

5) BEST ART DIRECTION
Building the dream inside a dream with amazing creations.

6) BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
Nothing more to add.

7) BEST SCORE
It's a long shot because the soundtrack reminds us THE DARK KNIGHT. But THE DARK KNIGHT soundtrack was roobed, so...

8) BEST SOUND MIXING
Frontrunner.

9) BEST SOUND EDITING
Frontunner.

10) BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
It is already in the bag.

And can we say 3 more nods????

11) BEST ACTOR
This can be tricky because Leonardo DiCaprio's role in SHUTTER ISLAND is the best performance of the year, so far. I hope Leo's double threat - SHUTTER ISLAND and INCEPTION - doesn't end like BLOOD DIAMOND and THE DEPARTED. Leo should get the Oscar for SHUTTER ISLAND and I believe Academy members will prefer this one. But Leo in INCEPTION has a shot

12) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
A suffering wife, right? Marion Cotillard gaves another impressive performance in INCEPTION. Can easily be forgotten just like last year with NINE.

13) BEST MAKE UP
It's a long shot but if there aren't many nominees, it's impressive what they did why Ken Watanabe.

INCEPTION COVERS "EW"

From EW: You’ve seen the commercials filled with surreal, phantasmagorical imagery. You’ve read the reviews full of effusive praise or total confusion. Heck, maybe you’ve even bought a ticket for Inception (the movie, released only last week, is on the verge of grossing $100 million) and have your own opinion about this mind-bending puzzle box about thieves who infiltrate the heads of the rich and powerful and steal precious ideas (or plant new ones) by creating elaborately manipulative dreams.

But if you think that merely pondering the movie requires some serious brain gymnastics, just consider what it was like to star in it. Leonardo DiCaprio explains that shooting the film was both a mental and physical challenge. Nolan, a stickler for naturalism, insisted that his actors and crew bring his vision to life without the use of computer-generated effects as much as possible, from making Joseph Gordon-Levitt perform zero gravity fisticuffs inside elaborate, rotating sets to asking the cast to feign peaceful slumber inside a van during a high-speed chase. “Actually,” says DiCaprio, “the van sequences were much easier than doing five pages of dialogue and the whole set is tilting and we have to hold onto a bar in order to not slide off the stage.”

GRETA SCACCHI IS GREAT IN THE GHOST WRITER...

I was watching THE GHOST WRITER this weekend and I was thinking: Greta Scacchi is great in this movie. And how does she looks so young? The woman is 50 years or more. In the ending credits, I realise the the actress that played Ruth in THE GHOST WRITER is actually Olivia Williams. Can you see the resemblance?

LIZA ZELLING OUT

I think Liza Minnelli is an impeccable performer and a real trooper, let's remind ourselves of that.
And now watch the Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and Grammy Award-winning singer sell her clothing line on a shopping network.
It's painful and quite hilarious at the same time. One half of her clothing line are saggy velvet pants, the other half looks like it was made out of leftover sequins from "Cabaret".
Liza and a presenter (who I thought was going to hump Liza's leg at some point) advertise her clothing and jewelry line, while Liza explains how to wear them in a sexy way. Ms. Minnelli also intensively talks about her knee surgery and her love for clay.
You gotta love Liza though for being a good sport through this - and for providing us with this video.

MERYL STREEP WILL BE MARGARET THATCHER

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Streep is in talks to play Margaret Thatcher in Thatcher, a film that would reunite her with Mamma Mia! director Phyllida Lloyd. Jim Broadbent is in talks to play Thatcher's husband, Denis.

Thatcher sounds like it's cut out of the same sturdy tweed as The Queen, in that it's not going to attempt to examine the entire life and career of Thatcher, but analyze its subject through one point in history. In Thatcher's case, it will be the 17 days that preceded the Falklands War in 1982. Her popularity was low due to massive unemployment rates, and the Irish hunger strikes cast a harsh international light on her unyielding policies. Her handling of the Falklands War (a conflict of only 2 1/2 months) saw her ratings soar, and allowed her to win a second government

Oscar number 3 finally?
