BLINDNESS OR LIES

Sometimes I don't understand the critics. I saw BLINDNESS and BODY OF LIES and I don't agree with the general opinion. In a weakest year, these movies are so far in my top 5. At last, I saw something interesting, with a good screenplay. Maybe the media should promote more movies like these and stop talking about QUANTUM OF SOLACE and TWILIGHT.

THE BEST PICTURE OF... 2009

Bored about a not-so-exciting Oscar season? Forget 2008. Let's talk about 2009 and one movie in particular: NINE. Wanna know why I think it is the next frontrunner? Well, Daniel Day-Lewis refused his usual five year hiatus to make this movie. The cast has just... let's see... four women that won the Oscar and other two that were close. And did I say that this is Sophia Loren's comeback?

So, let's wait for NINE. Directed by Rob Marshall (the one that almost won an Oscar for CHICAGO), starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson and... Fergie. Just NINE reasons for this frontrunner.

I... DOUBT

Meryl Streep has already receive a review about her performance in DOUBT. Variety call it "one iffy element". I... doubt. Todd McCarthy says that "Streep overdoes the melodrama, thereby turning Sister Aloysius into more of a stock figure than she ultimately seemed onstage". That is exactly the point. Meryl Streep would never do a performance too close with what Cherry Jones has done onstage. Every actor has a different perspective and even Cherry Jones calls Streep performance "magnificent". Let's see if Meryl Streep is not the frontrunner for best actress. Kate Winslet is the only one that could stop here.

BOND LIKES TO COPY... BOURNE

QUANTUM OF SOLACE, the new Bond movie, just reminds me a lot of... Jason Bourne trilogy. And like many things in life, we prefer the original, not the copy. What is happening with Bond? They hire an actor that looks like a Russian villain. They made CASINO ROYALE like a different boring perspective of Bond. And then they made QUANTUM OF SOLACE with the exact structure of CASINO ROYALE. It seems that I was watching CASINO ROYALE, only in different locations. And the fights? Bond kills with a gun not with scissors.
