ACTRESS MIA! HERE SHE COMES AGAIN

Meryl Streep is the best actress the world have ever seen. She is the best because of the amount of their variety work. She is the only one we can imagine playing everything. Hepburn was great. Bette Davis was great but too... Bette Davis. And there were others. Meryl surpassed them all. It's true that she was born n a different era for actresses, with a range of roles much most interesting. Her performance in SOPHIE'S CHOICE is still the best ever gave by an actress. Since then, she never won another Oscar. She keeps waiting for her third... for, umm, 26 years (I'm younger that that). So Meryl will continue to surprises us, as she will this summer with MAMMA MIA!, but she won't receive the Oscar soon. DOUBT is a hope... but the true is this: the Academy demands the perfection from Meryl. Only because the Academy knows she is the best. Meryl, with her 30000 nods, has seen worst perfomances receiving Oscars. But she knew how to wait. She made THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA a huge hit. She will make DOUBT one of the frontrunners this year. Wanna bet? Mamma mia! She's Meryl...

IS AUSTRALIA THE FRONTRUNNER?

Every year Oscar fans try to guess which movie will win next year. It's just a way to spend our time while we wait for the ceremny. In fact, sometimes we think that we only live during the ceremony and the all year is just a big and fat commercial break.
And as usual we have some big contenders this year, like Body of Lies, Changeling, Benjamin Button, Revolution Road... One of them is Australia. It looks like the big epic romantic period movie. Academy loves(or loved?) epic period romantic movies. Just look at The Engish Patient (not one of my favourites).
But Academy have changed. The last three best pictures were like the turning point: Crash, The Departed, No Country for Old Men. The same theme, violence is the center. Will Academy vote for the movies with the best mirror of our society or it still love the big epic ones?
New Hollywood is killing Old Hollywood. Thank God we have Nicole Kidman to remind us how classic actresses were.
By the way, this photo is n the next VOGUE. Just check Just Jared.
